I first spotted Rakim Mayers better known by his stage name A$AP Rocky an American rapper and music video director from Harlem, when I came across his video for his track “Wassup”his edge caught my eye from his sound to his style to his lyrical, his sound described as a collective of all music genres, this fusion of everything from culture to life style
draws anyone in whatever their music taste is.
After listening to “Wassup”a 1000 times, I found out he was going to be playing at the Electric Ballroom on the 6th June I couldn’t wait to see him live.
His Dj appears on stage to warm up the crowd, when the crowd is warm and ready A$AP Rocky plus A$AP Mob appeared on stage and straight away you can feel the intense love for him and his music ,the whole crowd jumping and screaming at the top of their lungs, with the crowd going wild lost in the Purple haze…. He has a kind of stage presence, charisma the whole crowd feeds off, And right in the middle of this magical dancing purple haze of music heaven, track “Trilla” to be exact..
Someone pulls of A$AP’s $15’000 Rolex off his wrist. I don’t know why anyone would come to a gig of a Artist they like and then have the balls to steal the artists percussions. Once A$AP notices his watch has gone the gig was put on a halt until the culprit was found and amazingly enough with the help from A$AP fans throwing some beats to the Rolex thief the Rolex was found and the Rolex was handed back to A$AP…
next A$AP, emerged with a towel over his head , thanked us for getting his watch back for him and the set finished in the purple haze sound that he had first created for us ,the sound that had drew me to his music in the first place..….
