Northern Irish, a bit Metal and like to have long song titles which often sound like life instructions ie ‘Don’t Waste Time Doing Things You Hate’ which actually sounds like pretty good advice. Did I mention they don’t do singing? Yep, that’s right, no lead singer. Given the amount of people unemployed these days that seems a bit tight so if you live in Northern Ireland and can write lyrics that can fit in with their complex chord changes and eardrum busting guitar solos, you coluld do worse than dropping them a line. Though to be honest, they seem to be doing pretty well without.

South African born and seemingly proudly waving the flag for Brixton, Mpho is very much one to watch. The record company have found her producers who have worked with Andre 3000 , Dizzee Rascal and Kylie and its that kind of smart pop music (if the first single ‘Box n Locks’ is anything to go by) that she’s making. Keen to avoid being pigeonholed, she’s posted an unusual choice of cover, Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ on youtube , a song she very much makes her own. Will success follow? Watch this space.

They look like they might be breakdancers and they made the most stupidly titled single since ‘De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da’ by The Police when they unleashed ‘Fa Fa Fa’ on the world. If you could listen to that and not feel like dancing then frankly you need to see a doctor because you might be dead. Sort of like a zombie, alive but not really alive. Datarock are from Norway, have a love of the 80’s and are probably the only band to include the lyric.’Why? Does she have a penis?’ in one of their songs (Computer Camp Love).
